The bird nests are in the shape of a boat and/or spoon. Bird's nest can be triangular in shape if they have been built in the corner of two adjacent walls.

However for nutritional value the shape does not matter. Bird nests that are broader in width rank higher. The real bird's nest should be in a natural shape. Each birds nest shape in different shape with 5~8 gram per piece. Each piece is good for 2 servings.

Recipe Made Simple
How to cook bird nests
Stew bird nests in a pot, using low heat. The water in the pot must cover every part of the bird nests. After stewing for 15 minutes, add rock sugar. Continue stewing it for an hour.

Another way to cook bird nest is just heat it in water until it is boiling. Then add sugar and remove the heat.

Cleaned or cooked bird's nest should be kept in a refrigerator.
